Lunch at school for Bosnian kids

Many kids in Bosnia are disadvantaged by poverty. Children receive a daily lunch at school only if their parents pay for it. Unfortunately, many parents cannot afford to pay for the school lunch, as poverty is a huge problem in Bosnia. Many children consume at least half of their meals at school, and for many, food served at school may be the only food they regularly eat!

Your donation will deliver daily lunches to those children whose parents cannot afford to pay, making sure they are not excluded from the lunch at school. With a donation of €9 you will provide a daily lunch for one child for one month. A donation of €70 covers all lunches at school for one child during the whole year.

Food at home for Bosnian families

During this pandemic, a large number of Bosnian people lost their jobs and their only source of income. Families are facing severe difficulties, this makes the already difficult situation in Bosnia even worse.

With the schools being closed to limit the spread of coronavirus, and people losing their jobs, children will inevitably face a food shortage at home. We therefore send food packages to Bosnian families in need. Schools select the families who need help, their suppliers take care of the distribution. We cover all the additional costs, so that 100% of your donation goes to the families.

Your donation will provide primary necessities to those families who are struggling with the consequences of the Corona crisis. Your help makes the difference. No gift is too small.

School books for Bosnian kids

The beginning of every school year is equally difficult for parents as for children due to the great financial cost it brings the family. Apart from the basics – such as school uniform, footwear and other school supplies – parents must pay a lot of money for textbooks. Government support for this is minimal, and so parents are left to manage by themselves. To avoid excessive costs they often try to buy second hand textbooks. However, due to regular changes in publishers, parents are often left without this option either. Unfortunately this has a negative effect on the children: sometimes it takes weeks to get a hold of textbooks, so they have to find alternatives in order to learn, such as photocopying, borrowing or even copying text by hand during school breaks.

A large number of families in BiH live in poverty and cannot afford to buy school textbooks for their children. Your donations ensure those children will get access to the books they need, and 100% of what you give goes to this purpose only. Textbooks purchased through donations will become school property – once used by students, books are returned to the school at the end of the year for the next year to use.
